Music Compilation: 50s Favourites

50s music, though before I was born, holds a special place in my heart and memories.  Certain songs from the 50s remind me of how my father and mother loved each other.

Music is not just about the lyrics and the tune.  It is about the memory or memories that it evokes when you listen to it.  It is a sensorial memory! 🙂

Excellent Covers of Original Songs

Nita Resch, Photo by JMorton

The bust opposite is that of Nita Resch, wife of the sculptor, Conrad Dressler.  The bust is now proudly displayed at the V&A Museum.

I chose this art as the statement photo for this blog, because Nita looked like she was trying to listen to something. 🙂

Anyway back to the real topic of this blog; almost every time the original singer of the song or tune is the best one to give rendition to song, I supposed the producer choose a song that best suit the singer’s voice and personality that song and singer become one.

But once in a while some other artists can be as good or even surpass the original performer.  Some songs are so great and melodious that it is rebooted over and over again in almost every generation.

Here are my choice of covers, which is a still a work in progress:
